Pokémon cards in McDonald’s Happy Meals! August 2025

This is the first time in 10 years that McDonald’s restaurants across Japan will be selling Happy Meals with Pokémon cards.

Long lines from early morning

The other day, I went to the much-talked-about McDonald’s Pokémon Card Collaboration in Japan.
At 5 a.m., there were already more than 50 people in line! A local dad who loves Pokémon cards woke up at 4 a.m. to wait in line.

The kids were thrilled

My son and his friend waited in line for about an hour and successfully ordered the Happy Meal with Pokémon cards. I myself waited in line for about four hours and finally managed to get five sets. It was really tough, but the joy of getting them was well worth it.

A gift for my son

I gave the Pokémon cards I got to my son, who is studying English hard. He’s currently preparing for the Eiken exam, so I hope these cards will motivate him to keep studying.

This collaboration was a huge hit, truly showcasing the popularity of “McDonald’s Pokémon cards.” If there’s another campaign in the future, I’d like to try again.

Today, I finally came across the Pokémon card sets Mega Sinfonia and Mega Brave for the first time at an electronics store! They had a limit of 10 packs per person, and I was able to get mine.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get a whole box.

It’s great that the stock of gift packs increased – one pack for every hour of English study. The first exam is finally coming after the summer break. Good luck! As for me, I gave up on English a long time ago and use translation apps to convert Japanese to English…
